Introduction
KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books invite you to challenge other artists and yourself in a painting contest with Inspire.

Submissions accepted: February 22nd to March 14th 2010

Prize: 500 USD

How to enter:

Submit your paintings using the Email button from the Browse screen of Inspire 1.5 and add the word "contest" to the subject or email body.

Two snapshots of your painting in-progress must be accompanied with each submission, so make duplicates while you paint!

No imported images, photos or artwork created in other apps are allowed. Please see below for full contest details and rules.

Theme

Humanoids vs. Nature

Any humanoid form can be depicted: humans, aliens, robots, etc. It can be one character or several, caught in a confrontation with nature. It can be a positive or negative situation — beautiful or dangerous one.

Nature can be overwhelming but we can sometimes conquer it for a short period of time or live with it in harmony. Choose your side!

The painting technique and style used by an artist as well as the emotive and narrative elements will be the key factors for judging the artwork. Artists should strive for originality in their creation and try to provoke the imagination of the viewer.

Examples
Here are two paintings created by Thierry Schiel from MobilArt Books that portray the theme of the contest.

Rules
All submitted artwork must be created using only the Inspire application from KiwiPixel, version 1.5.

A prize of 500 USD will be awarded to the winner.

Each participant must have a valid PayPal account. In case the winner does not have one at the time of payment, the prize will be awarded to the second best entry.

Each entrant is only allowed to submit up to 3 paintings for the contest. Any subsequent submissions will not be considered for the prize.

All paintings for the contest should be submitted using the Email button from the Browse screen of Inspire 1.5. Add the word "contest" to the subject or email body to be considered for the prize. For each submission, at least two snapshots showing the progress of the painting are required. These can easily be created while painting using the Duplicate button from the Browse screen of Inspire.

KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books will chose the judges.

Employees and immediate family relatives of KiwiPixel, MobileArt Books and the judges cannot compete in the contest.

Entries should be original and should remain unprinted and unpublished prior to the closing of the contest and for a full month after the winner has been revealed. Any entry deemed by the judges to be identical or substantially similar to any other entry previously entered may be disqualified as derivative work.

Any image deemed to contain content that depicts violence, racial, political, religious, sexual or any other inflammatory material in an inappropriate manner may be disqualified and removed from the contest. Interpretation of what is, and is not, appropriate material is at the sole discretion of KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books.

The contest closes March 14 2010, 11:59pm (EST), at which no more artwork will be considered for the prize. No late entries will be accepted.

The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into after the winner has been revealed.

Any import taxes or duties on prizes must be paid by the prize winner. It is neither practically possible nor ethically reasonable for KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books to pay duties and taxes on behalf of a winner.

By entering artwork to the contest, the entrant warrants that they are the sole copyright holder of their artwork.

The entrant grants KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books rights to use all entered materials in any media for sales, marketing and merchandising material provided full and correct credit for the artist clearly appears with the said materials.

The winners grant KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books first right to publish their submitted work in any media.

Other than the rights assigned in the preceding clauses, entrants retain copyright of all entered materials and are free to use said materials for personal promotions one full month after the winner has been announced.

The entrant indemnifies KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books against any claims or indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages from any party that may arise from any use, including but not limited to, publication of entry materials submitted as a part of, or in association with the competition.

KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books will not return any material submitted.

Disqualification of an entry is at the sole discretion of the judges, KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books and will only affect the eligibility of an entry to win the prize.

There is no agreement or contract between the artist, KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books. The artist assumes all responsibility for delivering images to KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books for consideration in the contest.

KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books does not require any payment for entry of images nor does KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books offer any form of payment, actual or implied, to any entrants.

In no event shall KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books be liable to any party for indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of the loss of images and data supplied, even if KiwiPixel and MobileArt Books have been advised of the possibility of such loss and damages.
